Buying your canvas
wall art by commission is a fantastic opportunity to add your
personal input in order to suit your taste of art.
In most
cases...the private art commissions I have produced have a
little "something personal" kind of request from the buyer
that they want incorporated into the painting.
Here is just one
example of my private art commissions...

This is a photo of a cushion that was sent to me as
a colour guide.
The lady who sent
me the photo had been looking for a piece of art
to suit her newly renovated lounge/dining room but was
having no luck.
Having witnessed my work at a local exhibit she ended up
commissioning me to produce the painting below.
She wanted
something with "life", big in size and
something to suit her home decor -- hence why she
sent me the photo of her lounge cushions.
She helped me help
her turn a simple idea into a fabulous piece of art for
her home. |
Here is the end result...

Custom Made Wall Art
Having
canvas wall art made to match your own ideas, thoughts and
vision definitely benefits those who feel they lack a little in
the creativity department.
In addition to
that...sometimes you can look for so long and never find that
"special" painting to match your requirements.
So
why not opt to have a design to suit your size specifications,
colour and decor by hiring a creative artist to fulfil your
desire.
Is
Custom Made Canvas Wall Art Expensive?
As
I always say, there is a price range for everybody. I
should point out that I am specifically talking about original
art canvas paintings.
The
costs associated with having your own custom made painting
produced are determined by size, materials, how intricate the
piece is required to be, time and energy that needs to be
invested to produce a great piece that matches your ideas.
Here
are a few points you may wish to consider should you decide to
have your own canvas wall art produced via commission:
-
Establish
a Budget
-- A
budget will certainly help to keep things into perspective. It
will also give the artist a ball park figure to work with in
terms of what can be produced to suit your affordability.
-
Establish
a Completion Date For The Painting -- If
you have done your due diligence and found a suitable artist and
discussed what type of theme you are after and weighed up the
potential costs of the project, then it’s a good idea to get a
round about completion date. It's
no good if you have a brilliant artist producing a dynamic
painting for you if they are going to put your job aside and
lose interest.
-
Be
prepared to pay anywhere
between 20% to a 50% deposit but only pay this once you have
come to a realistic completion date that both you and the artist
have a agreed to.
-
If
the artist needs a couple of weeks/months then establish that
and lock it in. But
make sure that you know when you can expect the work to be
completed.
A
good artist will keep you informed as to the progress of the
work to maintain your confidence in their business ethic and
reliability.
-
Confidence
In The Artist
-- Perhaps
consider asking the artist if he or she has completed similar
commission work for other people and whether they have a
portfolio for you to view. It's not vital but if they do
have something for you view then it is worth asking.
-
Do
they have testimonials from previous clients who were happy with
their ability to produce the work that the customer.
-
What's
important for you as the purchaser is to assess if the artist is
great at his or her craft -- but
most importantly; he or she can produce the style of art you are
seeking.
-
Chances
are you may end up choosing
an artist based on having already witnessed his or her work
at a local showing, internet or as a referral from someone
you know.
If
you like their "style and energy", then you should definitely
consider asking
them to help you with the ideas you have in mind.
One
thing to remember is that a good artist can produce something to
suit your specifications...but don't overload them with too many
ideas. It's important that you allow the artist to go about
utilising the very thing you are hiring them for...their
creativity!
Ok...here is another
one of my canvas wall art by commission projects...

The
lady who commissioned me to produce this piece owned very rich
and dark furniture in her home.
She also requested
something that was slightly risqué but very tasteful and for it
to be an abstract acrylic painting.
You can see that I
incorporated her husbands passion for music in this painting
also.
Not only
was the lady "super" happy with her new painting but it
looked absolutely fantastic on her lounge room wall.
Although in essence I produced the painting, I had to give her a
lot of credit for having such a artistic eye. The
end result was she ended up with a painting that matched her
ideas and taste...and she contributed wonderfully to her home
through this use of home wall decor.
It's
interesting to note that some
of the most famous paintings ever produced were commissioned
art.
Leonardo
da Vinci's Mona Lisa was of course a commissioned
painting.
So was Michelangelo's incredible work on the ceiling of the Sistine
Chapel in Rome.
Go
and get your ideas in the hands of a competent artist!
