Perhaps an
odd choice for a colorful
abstract art subject. But I have to admit, the inspiration to
incorporate Emmylou Harris into a painting came quite accidentally.
Emmylou
Harris had been a major contributor with Gram Parsons musical
work in the early 70's before he sadly passed away in 1973.
Now I
have to be honest…I had never really been a country music
fan.
But when I
watched Emmylou Harris sing, I have to admit that I was so
impressed with her musical presence and natural beauty.
Yeah, I
know, all this was a strange way in which to source out
inspiration for this painting – but I'm kinda glad it
happened as accidentally as it did.
You may
notice that I have painted her in a formal ballroom type
dress, this is to represent the way Emmylou performs
- from what I have seen of her she sings as if every
moment is important and quite monumental.
Watching
her perform, I quickly realised that it wouldn't take me much
to be inspired enough to paint something that depicted
Emmylou.
