Modern Artists

I
think good modern artists can justify their work well.
What
I mean is they have a great knack of being able to explain the
complexities (or simplicities) behind their artwork.
In
some respects…the longevity of a lot of inspiring artists lie within their ability to translate their work well.
What
this indicates is that the artist invests a lot of him or
herself into each piece. At some level they are working with a
theme or purpose in mind.

However,
not all good artists are going to produce purpose driven
work… all of the time.
But
I think the success of a good artist is somewhat reliant on
their ability to work on a broad level of inspiration…
regardless if the painting took 3 weeks or 20 minutes to
produce.
I'm
not too sure if many artists who use the "slap and
paste" method with EVERY piece they produce are destined to
hover high in the ranks of the art world.
Most
creative artists maintain a high level of passion for
their work. I can certainly vouch for that. And it goes without
saying that passion is the driving force and motivation behind
most inspiring modern day artists.
Having
a formal art education does not necessarily make you a good
contemporary artist.
Let's not forget that Picasso wrapped up
his art education by the age of sixteen and spent most of his
adult art years learning how to paint like a kid again.
Good
artists never really stop learning new techniques or ways in which to
translate their internal view on the canvas. Like most artists, I am always pushing myself to master my art
without being too concerned as to whether there is actually a
destination or not.
I
would tend to think having no final destination is a good thing
because... I believe an artist is never really suppose to finish
anything - as being an artist is an on going journey of discovery.
