A Bit About An Original Artist With
A Vision To Inspire...

Hi there. My name is Carl and I am an artist from Australia.

I put my CAKUart web site together to showcase my original art, to help you the art collector make informed art buying decisions...and to help inform, inspire other artists looking to master their craft and market their work.
CAKUart
I have been an artist ever since I was kid, but I didn't really believe in my true ability up until about 8 years ago.

I sold my first painting in 2001 for $85. I got so excited that it became infectious.

In fact a friend of mine at the time bought me a "first sale congratulation" gift as she too got caught up in the excitement of me selling my first painting.

She is no longer just a friend...I married her (wink).

Ok...$85 might not be such a big deal now...but when someone pays you for something that originated in your heart and mind...that is something an original artist has to learn and continue to appreciate regardless of their ranking.

Although I have sold many of my original works of art since that first sale back in 2001, I am so grateful for the ongoing opportunities I have with many people commissioning me to produce artwork on request.

What I love about private art commissions is the challenge it provides. It is a fantastic way for an artist to truly push themselves and grow. There is no question that you have to bring your whole self to the table as an original artist in order to produce quality commission work.

I predominately work with acrylics and oils on canvas. Optimism, color and texture (by use of brush and palette knife) is what I aim to apply in my work with the goal of creating what I call "Inspirational Wall Art".

I am incredibly grateful to have many collectors of my work - some even own more than 5 pieces of my artwork.

Just a Tad Bit More About Me...

Back in 1999 I packed up and took off on an 18 month voyage around the world.

I've had the great fortune of seeing Salvador Dali's work at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid. This is where Picasso's Guernica is displayed also. I got to experience the awe of their work first hand.

I have lived among many different cultures across the globe. So I guess you could say that I really have no excuse for running out of painting ideas -- I have quite a lot of inspiration to feed from after having travelled to over 20 countries.

Original Artist
That there is me...I was in awe...amazing place is Cairo and Giza

Previous to my world trip I spent many years as a songwriter/musician fronting a rock group as the lead singer and guitarist.

In fact music is the main source of inspiration behind my artwork. It's a funny thing, but sometimes it feels like the energy from the music is guiding me as I paint.

Painting to music is such a powerful way to dig deep into your creative mind.

About My CAKUart Website

I decided to put together this web site to showcase my work... but also to create an environment where buyers of art can come visit and use it as a resource of information.

Additionally...

When I first started out as an artist I often struggled to get good advice from reliable sources.

I know how frustrating it can be when you are learning the ropes in this industry.

From that frustration I developed a real passion to help other artists learn how to push their creative boundaries and market their work.

As an artist you spend a lot of time on your own. So one of the goals with building this site was to create a CAKUart community for art collectors, admirers, new and "established" artists.

I am always adding new content to this site so bookmark this site now and sign up for the CAKUart free newsletter.

Thank you for visiting and enjoy your stay!

What My Visitors Say:

"I have been dragging my feet about getting back into my art for too long. Carl thank you for your No BS answers to my frustrations. I have to admit I didn't really expect to hear anything when I filled out the survey, but when I got a personal letter from you I was blown away. Thanks again"

"Thank you so much for your personal reply. EVERYTHING you said really struck a chord and I guess on some level I already knew all the answers. You have motivated me beyond anything I have ever read, been told or taught before..."

"
Your advice has been very good... especially the part about vision and practice"

"Carl, Thank you for that thoughtful reply. I printed it out and at first look I didn't see that it was a personal response. That was the most direct honest wise interpretation of my dilemma that I have ever had the pleasure of reading..."

"What you said has really got me excited. Thanks so much for the reply (and at 4 in the morning too!) I am really going to work hard at starting where I left off so long ago..."
