For me personally...painting
to music is the most motivating and inspiring force behind
most of my work. The only problem for me...is that music is
never loud enough (wink).
So do I ever paint in silence?
Very rarely.
At times when I need to
concentrate on an intricate part of the painting, it does help
to bring the volume down...but only down slightly.
Music is a "universal
language" that speaks to all of us equally regardless of
our place of origin, culture or financial status. Not only
that...music has a powerful energy of influence.
The most amazing thing about
music is...we can't even see or touch it and yet it plays such a
powerful role in all of our lives.
Music As Wall Art
Creating a response to music
with paint could be regarded as quite therapeutic because it's
one creative energy helping to influence the creation of
another.
It's my belief that we humans
are ultimately stimulated and driven in life by our desire to
provide service to others...but most of all we are driven by our
ability to create. Some may say that creativity and providing
service go hand in hand. Perhaps so.

So... can we actually paint
music? Well I do know you can translate the energy from
the music onto a painting canvas. This can be represented
through the use of colour and texture to provide a sense of
warmth, passion, joy and energy.
Colours are an excellent way of
representing the mood in a song.
I encourage you take the time
to watch my video below, "Music on Canvas", and watch
me as I produce my "Guitarra" painting. I also discuss
how music and art (painting) come together as one. I hope you
enjoy it.
